Straight Outta Profanity

Straight outta Compton

In the mid-1980's a group of above average rappers banded together to revolutionize the rap culture in the racist city of Los Angeles. The group formed because of racial frustration and because of how rough their life was in the horrible neighborhood they lived in. I think a common theme in this movie was rebellion. There are multiple examples in the movie where they do rebellious things against the police.

I personally really like this movie. I am a huge rap fan and I enjoy most of NWA's music and they really introduced me to rap.  Since I liked the group before I saw they movie I already knew I was gonna like the movie and that was true. I thought it was really cool to see a bunch of not so good rappers come together and make some really good music!

Going into this movie I thought I was going to like it because I heard great things from people who saw the movie already. I knew Compton was a really horrible place from things I have heard from the news but this movie really showed me how bad it really was. While they were filming this movie they actually went to Compton to film some of the scenes and that really portrayed how bad it is there.

  1. I've seen this movie too and I agree with all of your points. There was definitely a problem with racsim in Los Angeles and it really showed that in the movie. You're right, they were very rebellious. They might even have been too rebellious creating a bad influence of young african americans.

  2. I agree with all the things you've pointed out in your post. Racism was and still a huge issue in our world and even here in Stevens Point. I think the rebelliousness started to help some people realize how awful African Americans were being treated. I think this movie is an eye opener.
